Sheriff's Office Litter Control Deputy Receives State Award

In January, Deputy Catoe received the Spirit Award in Enforcement from Palmetto Pride recognizing him for his outstanding work with the organization and the citizens of Lancaster County. Deputy Catoe was selected by the Palmetto Pride staff from the litter control officers from each of the 46 counties.

Palmetto Pride is a legislative initiative created to fight litter and help beautify South Carolina. Palmetto Pride was created in response to citizens’ concerns regarding the amount of litter in South Carolina. Originally established in 1999 by executive order under Governor Hodges, Palmetto Pride has been on the front line in the fight against litter for over 10 years. Palmetto Pride works to educate children within our schools, works closely with law enforcement to prosecute littering and illegal dumping, works to raise public awareness, and works with 100’s of organizations on pickup efforts.
